Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Li (ranked 1557 p4p, 3879 weight class) and Neil Park (ranked 113 p4p, 207 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mikael Li! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Neil Park! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Li avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A solid body kick from Park. Park misses with a lunging right hand
and Li counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Park wants to sweep but Li has passed to side control! Park is pushing Li's head away, looking to escape. Li manages to hold on to the position though. Li tries for a kimura but Park is defending well. Li is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Park knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Park is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Li asserts his dominance and retains side control. Li is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Park has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Park is pushing Li's head away, looking to escape. Li manages to hold on to the position though. Li tries for a kimura but Park is defending well. Park wants to get back to his feet but Li is dominant here and he's now got Park's back! Li working for the choke. Park wants to escape the position.

Park really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Li. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Park is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Li tries to get the hooks in deep but Park pushed the leg off. Park is trying to escape but he's just digging himself into more trouble. Li manages to sink in the hooks and gets a rear naked choke to end the fight in impressive fashion.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mikael Li! Mikael Li retains his bantamweight title!
