Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alfea Rignold (ranked 4829 p4p, 4817 weight class) and Phoenix Waters (ranked 321 p4p, 320 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alfea Rignold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Phoenix Waters!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rignold looking to score a takedown here. Waters is defending well but Rignold drives through and ends up in Waters's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rignold slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Waters is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rignold drops back looking for a leg! Waters is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Waters manages to kick Rignold off! Rignold jumps back into Waters's guard.
Rignold throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Waters wants to control the position but Rignold says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Waters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rignold seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rignold works his way into full mount!
Rignold takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Waters defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rignold.
Rignold controlling from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rignold seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Waters for as long as he can get away with.
Waters is trying to escape the mount.
Waters flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Waters tries to hold on but Rignold postures up.
Waters really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rignold looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rignold controlling his opponent.
Rignold lands a big shot there that rocks Waters but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Waters tries to hold on but Rignold postures up.
Rignold takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Waters is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rignold controlling from the full mount.
Waters wants to control but Rignold is having none of it.
Rignold unloading with bombs!
Rignold with the ground and pound from mount.
Rignold controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rignold in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Rignold is working for a guillotine from mount but Waters frees his head quite easily.
Rignold lands a heavy elbow.
Rignold lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Waters hang on?
Rignold controlling from mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rignold has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Waters tries to lock up and control but Rignold gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Alfea Rignold dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Waters decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rignold regains full guard. Nicely done.
Waters is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Waters avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rignold throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rignold had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Waters defends it easily.

Rignold escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Waters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rignold is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Waters rolls with it to try and escape but Rignold cranks on the arm and Waters is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alfea Rignold!
