Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Big Baby (ranked 3817 p4p, 3774 weight class) and Barrett Salinas (ranked 0 p4p, 417 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Big Baby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Barrett Salinas! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salinas moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Salinas falls off balance throwing a combination
and Baby counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baby missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Baby in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Salinas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Baby stands up over Salinas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Baby trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Baby is pushing down on Salinas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Salinas is fighting to maintain full guard but Baby has managed to sneak the leg through. Salinas manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Baby keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Baby jumps guard.
Baby is trying to keep Salinas in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baby is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Salinas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Baby lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Salinas keeping moving, preventing Baby from controlling successfully. Baby is in close to Salinas's body, working some short punches and elbows. Salinas can't keep his opponent in guard - Baby advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Baby prevents Salinas from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baby lands strikes from half guard. Ground and pound from Baby. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Salinas can do anything to dispel that myth. Baby is trying to control. Salinas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Baby missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Baby tries to pass to full mount but Salinas defends it. Baby working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Salinas taking some punishment here, with Baby in his half guard. Salinas is not content to let Baby control the position. Salinas wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baby wants to take a breather but Salinas is having none of it. Baby not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Baby tries to pass the half guard into mount. Salinas knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Salinas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Baby. Baby with the ground and pound but Salinas uses the opportunity to regain guard. Baby trying to control the position from guard on top but Salinas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Salinas has momentary wrist control but Baby slips an elbow through the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Baby won't allow Salinas to get back to his feet. Salinas is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Salinas lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Baby walks into a stiff left hand from Salinas. Salinas looks to land a combination. Baby sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Baby blocks a low kick nicely. Baby takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Salinas with a hook. Salinas feints with a jab and clips Baby right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Baby is sent crashing into the canvas and Salinas leaps in for the kill! Baby tries to get to his feet but Salinas is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Baby is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barrett Salinas!
