Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Banton (ranked 25356 p4p, 3853 weight class) and Rafael Ramirez (ranked 479 p4p, 420 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Thomas Banton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Banton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Banton throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ramirez jabs Banton right on the nose. Banton blinks but takes it well. A combination from Ramirez does no damage. Banton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ramirez is trying to push Banton away but Banton has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Banton misses with a punch to the body.
Banton has Ramirez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ramirez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Banton is trying to pull guard but Ramirez has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas Banton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Banton stalling in the clinch but Ramirez improves position. Ramirez is looking to break free of the clinch but Banton has double underhooks. Ramirez goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Banton displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ramirez up against the cage. Banton manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Ramirez wants to stand but Banton has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Banton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ramirez controlling from the top position. Ramirez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Banton, up you get! Ramirez moves into the clinch successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Banton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Banton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ramirez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Banton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Banton throws a sloppy head kick and Ramirez moves out of range easily. Ramirez explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Banton is breathing heavily. Banton shoots in and gets a takedown into Ramirez's guard. Ramirez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Banton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ramirez clinches with his opponent.
Ramirez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ramirez wants to clinch. Banton blocks a head kick by Ramirez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banton tries to avoid it but Ramirez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banton to the ground. Banton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Banton tries to counter by clinching up but Ramirez breaks away and moves out of range. Ramirez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Banton at a distance.
Ramirez throws a leg kick which misses Banton's front leg but catches the back leg as Banton tries to avoid it. Banton moves into the clinch. Ramirez is trying to maintain a safe position but Banton gets an underhook and turns Ramirez into the cage. Ramirez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Ramirez displaying some good clinch control by pressing Banton up against the cage. Banton is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Ramirez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Banton smiles and moves away.
Banton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A combination from Ramirez does no damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ramirez gets a clinch. Ramirez breaks from the clinch.
Ramirez moves into the clinch. Ramirez misses with a body punch.

Ramirez jumps guard.
Ramirez has control of Banton's left arm, preventing Banton from doing any damage. Banton stops Ramirez from standing up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ramirez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Banton off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ramirez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rafael Ramirez dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ramirez is looking to clinch but Banton is avoiding it.
Ramirez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ramirez. Banton rushes Ramirez and presses him up against the cage. Ramirez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Banton has him pressed against the cage. Ramirez stuffs the takedown attempt from Banton. Banton gets slowly back to his feet. Ramirez is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ramirez avoids the head kick by Banton.
Ramirez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banton is fending him off so far but Ramirez persists. Nope, Banton circles away and we're back to standing. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Ramirez - that will leave a mark!
Ramirez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Banton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Banton stuffs the takedown attempt from Ramirez. Ramirez gets slowly back to his feet. Thomas Banton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Ramirez.

Banton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ramirez avoids it really well and circles away. Banton gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ramirez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Banton doesn't manage to clinch there - Ramirez circles away.
Banton misses with a takedown attempt and Ramirez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ramirez throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Banton is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ramirez lands with a big right hook that stumbles Banton - he's out on his feet here! Ramirez follows up with another monster hook that separates Banton from consciousness! Banton falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Ramirez stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
