Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Ward (ranked 2476 p4p, 25114 weight class) and Doc Chou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). William Ward has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Ward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doc Chou! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward dives in and scores a takedown into Chou's guard. Ward postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We've been hearing that Ward has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ward postures up.
Ward passes into half guard. Ward wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chou keeps working. Chou is looking for a sweep. Ward is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ward is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chou has managed to free his arm - good work.

Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Chou has hold of Ward's hands but Ward slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Chou really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Ward looks to land a strike but Chou avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Chou is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ward throwing strikes but missing. Ward throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Chou trying to control the position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward throws a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ward throwing strikes from guard but Chou blocks nicely. Chou wants to get back to his feet but Ward is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ward's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Chou keeping moving, preventing Ward from controlling successfully. Chou is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Chou has momentary wrist control but Ward slips an elbow through the middle. Chou controlling the position. Ward has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ward missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ward throwing strikes but missing. Chou wants to stand up but Ward is controlling him. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ward working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chou's head. Chou not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ward distracts Chou with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ward wants to control from the top but Chou keeps moving. Ward controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chou throws a body shot but no joy. Ward attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. A lazy left from Chou finds it's target. Chou throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Ward to counter with a crisp jab. Ward throws a right and a left that Chou avoids nicely. Chou with a body punch. A glancing blow. Ward shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chou as he jumps to the side. Ward tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chou sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ward somewhat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chou uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ward.
Chou moves away from the strike by Ward. Ward throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Chou throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease. Ward fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Chou on the side of the head. Chou throws a leg kick that misses. Chou just misses with a punch to the body.
Ward is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chou can do to turn this around? A looping hook to the body misses from Ward. Chou does a little dance to reset his feet. Chou slips a straight right by Ward. Doc Chou is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ward misses with a body punch
and Chou counters with a nice uppercut. Chou misses with a few strikes there.
It looked like Ward wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Chou looks for the body kick but Ward saw that one coming. Chou digs a good body shot into Ward's ribs. Ward fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Chou misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ward drives through with a takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chou preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ward trying to control but Chou is working from the bottom.

Ward drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ward jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ward preventing the sweep. Ward is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ward in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ward trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ward distracts Chou with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ward is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Chou looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Chou's guard. Ward controlling the pace. Chou trying to control from the bottom.
Ward wants to control but Chou is keeping him busy. Ward prevents Chou from improving his position. Chou wants to get back to full guard but Ward has passed into side control. Ward passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Chou! Ward takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ward looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
William Ward dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Chou tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ward paws at him with a jab and circles away. Chou throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ward is looking to wear down Chou with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Ward throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chou sees it coming and avoids it easily. Chou's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Chou duly obliges. Ward lands a jab to the head.
Chou displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ward. Ward throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ward drops Chou with a beautiful combination! Chou stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ward is looking for the KO!
 Chou is rocked!
 It looks like Doc Chou has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Ward avoids the body shot from Chou.
Chou is still on wobbly legs! Can Ward finish him? Chou defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ward. Chou swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Chou misses with a wild combination.
Ward shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chou pinned against the cage. Chou gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Chou seems to have recovered his senses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A punch lands to the side of Ward 's head but he takes it in his stride. Ward fails to land the takedown. Chou swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Chou takes a swing at Ward's ribcage but misses. Ward shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Chou stuffs the takedown attempt from Ward. Ward gets slowly back to his feet. Ward will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Chou scores with a hook to the body. Ward takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Chou connects with a crisp jab.

Ward closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chou did well to prevent Ward getting side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Chou wants to improve his position but Ward is controlling well.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ward lands strikes from half guard. William Ward is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Chou keeps control of the position for the meantime. Ward trying to pass the guard but Chou defending well. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ward lands a nice short elbow. Ward is figuring out what he wants to do next. Ward takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to William Ward. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ward, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
