Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Usaa Mera (ranked 25197 p4p, 2697 weight class) and Rick Viaz (ranked 0 p4p, 248 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rick Viaz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Viaz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mera shoots and misses
and Viaz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mera shoots in and bounces Viaz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Viaz is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Mera presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Mera blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Viaz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Viaz is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Mera has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Viaz uses from the top position.

Viaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mera but Mera pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Usaa Mera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Viaz.
Viaz works over Mera's head and body with a nice combination.
Mera gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
