PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Melendez (ranked 2709 p4p, 4868 weight class) and Wayne Walker (ranked 304 p4p, 0 weight class). Melendez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is My People- Abra Cadabra. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Melendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wayne Walker!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Melendez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Melendez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Walker avoids it really well and circles away.
Walker now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Melendez has his takedown stuffed

and Walker counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Walker.

Carlos Melendez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Melendez slips a nice elbow through Walker's hands, connecting with Walker's forehead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Melendez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side.

Wayne Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Melendez dives in and grabs Walker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes down on Melendez's head and hops out.
Walker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Melendez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Walker's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Walker is on top in guard.

Walker tries to free his leg and advance position but Melendez is retaining full guard.

Walker stands and steps away. Melendez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Horrible takedown attempt by Walker or perhaps it was just good defense by Melendez, which made it look bad.

I think Walker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
