And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 122 wins and 97 losses; Conald Petersen! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Petersen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Mesquita (0) vs (2) Petersen The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Petersen controlling the action here. Mesquita looking for submissions off his back. Petersen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Mesquita manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mesquita is desperately trying to improve his position but Petersen has a good base and remains in mount. Petersen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Mesquita is in all sorts of trouble here.

Petersen looking to control but Mesquita is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Mesquita has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

What can Mesquita do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
