The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Gracie shoots in and bounces Suarez off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

It looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

We've been hearing good reports from Suarez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Suarez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gracie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gracie and Suarez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Gracie tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Suarez presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Suarez wants to take his opponent's back but Gracie doesn't allow it.
Gracie is desperately trying to improve his position but Suarez has a good base and remains in mount.
Suarez fails to take his opponent's back.
Gracie tries to hold on but Suarez postures up.

Suarez moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Gracie has worked his arm free - good work by Gracie!

Suarez swings around for an armbar but Gracie sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Suarez's guard.

Suarez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gracie controls the pace.
Gracie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Suarez controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.

Suarez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gracie content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Suarez has locked up a guillotine! Suarez's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Gracie is holding on here and Suarez must be using up a lot of energy. Gracie has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Suarez gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
