The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Chai shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Chai (2) vs (0) Jiurgite Chai is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jiurgite doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chai. Chai is trying to work for a kimura but Jiurgite is defending well.
Chai is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jiurgite defends it well. The fighters are battling for position here. Jiurgite manages to regain full guard. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jiurgite swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Chai is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jiurgite is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jiurgite has escaped and now he's on top! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Chai (2) vs (2) Jiurgite Jiurgite got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chai has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jiurgite has managed to get both his arms back between Chai's legs - danger averted. Chai seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chai throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jiurgite uses it to pass to side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Chai (2) vs (5) Jiurgite Jiurgite has hold of Chai's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Chai tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jiurgite cranks the arm and Chai screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Chai, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
