Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Bates (ranked 4703 p4p, 23812 weight class) and Ding Ding Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bates has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Ding Ding Dong will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodney Bates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 36 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ding Ding Dong! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Chris Dean and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Bates as Ding Dong shoots in. Bates is breathing heavily. Bates pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Ding Dong darts in looking for a takedown but Bates gets double underhooks and turns Ding Dong into the cage. Ding Dong shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ding Dong was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! You can see the frustration on Bates's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ding Dong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ding Dong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ding Dong tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ding Dong thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. We've been hearing good reports from Bates's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bates stops Ding Dong from passing to mount. Bates is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Ding Dong tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ding Dong is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bates is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Ding Dong moves into full mount! Ding Dong working for a submission but Bates is keeping him at bay. Ding Dong is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bates can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ding Dong wants to take Bates's back here but Bates is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ding Dong is looking to control Bates but Bates is wriggling around and keeping busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ding Dong is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bates defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Ding Dong looking for the choke but no joy. Ding Dong keeps control of the position as Bates tries to break free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Bates staying busy and making it hard for Ding Dong to control. A bit of a pause in the action here. Ding Dong controlling the positon. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Ding Dong's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Bates covering up well under a barage of strikes. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ding Dong is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Ding Dong wants to control but Bates is keeping busy. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ding Ding Dong dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ding Dong fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bates displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ding Dong. Ding Dong shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bates sprawls well. Bates wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ding Dong gets slowly back to his feet. It looked like Bates was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Rodney Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ding Ding Dong. Ding Dong shoots in for a takedown but Bates shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ding Dong goes for a double leg but Bates avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bates continues to drive forward. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ding Dong fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ding Dong shoots for a double leg takedown but Bates sprawls well. He's pushed Ding Dong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ding Dong closes the distance and clinches up with Bates, looking for a takedown. Ding Dong pushes Bates against the cage but Bates circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ding Dong fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bates avoids it really well and circles away. Ding Dong shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bates but Bates pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ding Dong goes for a double leg but Bates avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bates continues to drive forward. Ding Dong fails with a takedown attempt. Bates tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ding Dong was well out of range. Poor timing from Bates. Ding Dong is looking for the big counter here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ding Dong misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bates tries to counter with a takedown but Ding Dong is quick to defend against it. Ding Dong misses with a takedown attempt - Bates sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Ding Dong shoots and misses and Bates counters with a left and a right that stings Ding Dong. Bates leaves Ding Dong with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bates moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Bates gets caught flat footed, as Ding Dong shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ding Dong is fighting to break Bates's control of his arms but Bates is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Rodney Bates dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Ding Dong manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bates on his heels. He'll look to pass Bates's guard now, I'm sure. Bates is trying to keep Ding Dong in close.
Bates might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ding Dong wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving. Ding Dong scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ding Dong passes into half guard. Ding Dong seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ding Dong is looking for a kimura but Bates is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ding Dong to get the leverage. Ding Dong wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bates keeps working. Ding Dong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Bates is looking to control Ding Dong's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bates avoid being mounted? Bates is staying active underneath Ding Dong, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ding Dong might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bates haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Ding Dong seems to be working for a kimura but Bates defends the submission attempt. Bates is pressing down on Ding Dong's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ding Dong trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom. Bates not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bates stuffs the takedown. Ding Dong fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bates is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ding Dong. A head kick misses from Bates. Horrible takedown attempt by Ding Dong or perhaps it was just good defense by Bates, which made it look bad. Rodney Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ding Ding Dong. Bates gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Ding Dong looking to pass the guard.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Ding Ding Dong! Ding Ding Dong decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
