Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Dillon Russo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Mason! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mason doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Mason shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Russo as he avoids it easily. Mason shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Russo but Russo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Russo throws a combination. Mason tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Mason takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Russo cracks Mason with a good jab. Russo closes the distance and pushes Mason back into the cage. Russo scores with a nice hook to the head. Russo is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Mason gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Russo regains guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Russo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mason paws at him with a jab and circles away. Russo connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mason momentarily.
Dillon Russo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Russo connects with a crisp jab. Russo connects with a body shot that sends Mason's belly button to the back. Russo forces Mason back against the cage and clinches. Mason pushes off an throws an elbow but Russo leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Russo. Russo lands with a left to the head. Mason tries to pull guard but Russo forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Dillon Russo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny Mason. The referee calls for Russo to work.
Mason tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Russo just stands there and leans against the cage. Mason is trying to break free.

Dillon Russo dominated that round. That's time! Russo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Mason dives in and grabs Russo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Russo pushes down on Mason's head and hops out. Russo dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Russo scores with a hook to the body. Mason takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Mason takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Good shot there by Russo. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mason. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. You can see the frustration on Russo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Russo tries to improve position but can't. Mason working away. Mason decides to take the fight back to the feet. Russo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Russo lands with a nice body punch.

Dillon Russo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Russo closes the distance and clinches. Mason has Russo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Russo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mason is breathing heavily. A short right hand to the side of the head by Russo. Mason tries to pull guard but Russo won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight! Dillon Russo showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Russo, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
