Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Burton (ranked 1486 p4p, 1302 weight class) and Grover Pittman (ranked 149 p4p, 129 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Burton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grover Pittman! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Darius Henderson and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burton blocks a head kick by Pittman.
Burton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Burton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pittman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Pittman is pushing Burton's head away, looking to escape. Burton manages to hold on to the position though. Burton happy to just control the position for now. Burton is trying to get an arm triangle but Pittman is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burton looking to control but instead Pittman has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pittman is trying to stand.
Burton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Burton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pittman is just riding it out for now. Burton eventually gives up the hold. Burton trying to control from half guard but Pittman is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Burton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A big left from Pittman misses. Burton throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Burton swinging wildly here.
Burton lands a two punch combo.
Burton takes a swing at Pittman's ribcage but misses. Pittman lands with a right hand. Pittman lands a head kick!
Burton clobbers Pittman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pittman avoids the body shot from Burton.
Burton misses with a series of wild punches.
Burton looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Pittman scores with a hook to the body. Burton takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Burton tries to keep at a distance but Pittman has taken the fight into the clinch. A head punch on the inside from Burton fails to land. Pittman scores with a shoulder strike. Pittman lands with a light punch inside. Burton throws a head punch that misses. Pittman has Burton pressed against the cage.

Burton pulls guard successfully.
Pittman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pittman looking to sit in guard and control but Burton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pittman wants to stand and escape but Burton is having none of it. Pittman wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Burton manages to pass to side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Burton wants to pass the guard but Pittman is defending well. Burton is trying to control the action in half guard but Pittman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Burton stops Pittman from getting back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Burton dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Pittman misses with a looping right. A punch combination from Burton misses. Burton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Burton slips a straight right by Pittman. Pittman misses with a hook. Burton is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Burton throws a hook but Pittman avoids it easily. Burton scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Burton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Burton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pittman circles away quickly and effectively. It seemed like Pittman was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Burton scores with a takedown into Pittman's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Burton prevents Pittman from getting back to his feet. Burton tries to free his leg and advance position but Pittman is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burton wants to control from the top but Pittman keeps moving. Pittman wants to get back to his feet but Burton is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Burton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pittman is keeping the position for now. Pittman wants to stand but Burton is controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Burton throws an overhand right that lands on Pittman's shoulder, as Pittman tries to avoid the shot. Pittman misses with a kick to the body.
Burton half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Burton scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Grover Pittman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Burton works the jab nicely. Burton is looking to wear down Pittman with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pittman gets in close and instigates a clinch. Pittman lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Burton backwards. Pittman lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Pittman scores with a shot to the side of Burton's head. Pittman prevents a body shot from Burton. Burton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pittman can do to turn this around? Pittman scores with a shot to the side of Burton's head. Pittman slowing the pace effectively. Pittman stalling.
Burton breaks the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Burton misses with a double jab.
Grover Pittman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Burton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Burton takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Burton takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Burton ducks right into an uppercut from Pittman. Pittman wants to clinch. A big left from Burton misses. Daniel Burton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pittman moves away. Burton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Pittman throws a body punch but Burton moves out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Burton. Pittman does a little dance to reset his feet. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pittman! But no joy. A combination from Burton does no damage. Burton throws a body shot but no joy. Pittman staying out of range there. Pittman connects with a solid leg kick. Pittman is looking to clinch but Burton is avoiding it.

Pittman lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

A head kick misses from Pittman. A counter left hand to the body from Burton misses its target. A thudding body kick lands there by Pittman!
This has been an exciting period of action! Burton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Burton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Pittman tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burton trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Pittman is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Pittman prevents Burton from getting a body triangle. Daniel Burton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Burton is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pittman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Pittman is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Burton will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Pittman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No joy there for Burton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Pittman jabbing away but nothing is landing. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pittman, as that shot connected.
A head kick misses from Pittman. Burton moves out of range of the strikes. Burton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pittman.
Daniel Burton is winning the standup battle so far. Pittman ducks under a wild hook from Burton. Pittman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Pittman fails in his attempt to clinch. Pittman dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Burton lands a nice hook to Pittman's body. Pittman takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Burton misses with an uppercut. Pittman saw that one coming. Pittman throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Burton on the side of the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burton misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Burton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pittman quickly recovers to half guard. Pittman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Burton trying to pass the guard but Pittman defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pittman is trying to stand up here but Burton is controlling him well. Pittman is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Burton content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Pittman is looking to escape.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Burton moves out of range of the strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Burton circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pittman misses with the body kick and Burton counters with a left and a right that stings Pittman. An inside leg kick lands from Pittman. A big left from Pittman misses. Pittman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Burton misses with a few strikes there.
Burton throws a right and a left that Pittman avoids nicely. Burton blocks the body kick.
Pittman connects with a body shot that sends Burton's belly button to the back. A lazy body kick from Pittman and Burton counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Pittman! Pittman is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Burton is controlling him well. Burton staying calm.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pittman keeps working. Pittman wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Burton tries to move to mount but Pittman blocks the move with his legs. Pittman is not content to let Burton control the position.

Pittman throws a leg kick which misses Burton's front leg but catches the back leg as Burton tries to avoid it. Burton needs to keep his hands up - Pittman had a free shot at his head there. A looping hook to the body misses from Burton. Pittman does a little dance to reset his feet. A big left from Pittman misses. Pittman thows a body kick. Burton tries to catch it but that hurt him. Pittman takes one on the button. Pittman closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Burton uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pittman. As Pittman looks to move away, Burton throws a big counter combo but Pittman just gets out of the way. Grover Pittman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Burton takes one on the chin but seems OK.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Burton. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
