Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fu Li!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza fails in his attempt to clinch.
Li shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mendoza sprawls well. Mendoza wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Li gets slowly back to his feet.
Mendoza lands a nice looking body shot.
Mendoza connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Li momentarily.
Mendoza throws a combination that misses
and Li counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mendoza!
Li trying to control the action but Mendoza is working from the bottom.
Li is putting a hurting on Mendoza here, landing some big shots from side control.
Li prevents Mendoza from escaping the position.
Mendoza on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Li cracks Mendoza with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Mendoza is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Li has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Li works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Li landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Li scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Mendoza is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Li can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fu Li!
An out of breath Fu Li thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
