Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Hong (ranked 4032 p4p, 3602 weight class) and Alfonso Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Hong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Alfonso Melendez! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melendez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hong sprawls well. Hong wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Melendez gets slowly back to his feet. Hong looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Melendez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Melendez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Melendez throws a head kick but Hong moves out of range.
Hong seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Melendez shoots in and drives through. Hong sprawls well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hong bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hong was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Hong blocks a head kick by Melendez.
As Melendez looks to move away, Hong throws a big counter combo but Melendez just gets out of the way. Melendez clinches with his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melendez is trying to push Hong away but Hong has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Melendez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hong uses from the top position. Hong has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Melendez will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Melendez is looking for a triangle but Hong pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hong stopping the sweep attempt from Melendez. Melendez is trying to control the position but Hong postures up. Hong wants to stand and escape but instead Melendez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Melendez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hong swivels though and keeps the full guard. Melendez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Melendez is in close to Hong's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hong on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hong tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hong is wriggling around but Melendez manages to pass to half guard.
Hong is staying active underneath Melendez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hong looks like he's trying to stand up.
Melendez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Melendez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hong tries to kick Melendez off in order to stand up. Melendez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Melendez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Melendez has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hong is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Melendez yanks on the arm and Hong is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Melendez.
