Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alkiviadis Samaras (ranked 2341 p4p, 24160 weight class) and Nathan Rook (ranked 199 p4p, 376 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nathan Rook was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Alkiviadis Samaras! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Rook! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rook ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Samaras moves away. Samaras quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Samaras digs a good hook to Rook's body.
Rook swings and misses with a shot to the body letting Samaras counter with a right hand. Sloppy strikes from Rook. Those never looked like landing. Rook throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Samaras tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rook paws at him with a jab and circles away. Samaras turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Samaras scores with a hook to the body. Rook takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. A telegraphed right hand from Rook misses the target. Samaras on the wrong end of a nice jab. Samaras with a nice calf kick. Rook swings widly with a right hand
and Samaras counters with a nice low kick that buckles Rook's knee momentarily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Samaras cracks Rook with an open hand slap. Rook looks to score with a jab to the body but Samaras is just out of range. Rook swings for the body but Samaras moves out of range.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Samaras throws a body punch but Rook moves out of range. Rook throws a lazy uppercut
and Samaras counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Samaras moves out of range as Rook strikes. Rook takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Rook misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Samaras cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rook takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Rook lands a nice shot to the body.
Samaras throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rook on the side of the head. A looping hook to the body misses from Rook. Samaras does a little dance to reset his feet. Rook throws a right hand that misses
letting Samaras counter with a right hand. Rook scores with a jab to the body. Samaras looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rook misses with a lunging right hand
and Rook takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Rook misses with a double jab
and Samaras counters with a beautiful punch that sends Rook to the canvas!
 Rook is rocked! Rook looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Samaras stands up from guard. Let's bang! Samaras is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Samaras throws a combination that misses and Rook counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Rook throws a right and a left that both miss. Rook lands with a nice combination. Samaras backs away looking to recover. Samaras is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A leg kick checked by Rook. Rook misses with a wild body shot. Samaras looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Rook just misses with a punch to the body.
Nathan Rook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rook throws a nice looking combination but Samaras bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Rook is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Samaras rather than just go for the knockout. Samaras avoids a punch combination nicely.
Samaras feinted there with a counter leg kick. Rook misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Samaras.
Rook throws the left hand but Samaras avoids the punch easily. Samaras works the jab nicely.

and Samaras counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rook thinking. Rook misses with a left hand and Samaras counters with a good low kick that Rook was not able to check. Samaras connects with the punch. Rook misses with a combination
and Rook takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Samaras throws a quick inside leg kick. Samaras lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rook's sensitive parts. Samaras scores with a leg kick.

and Samaras counters with a low kick, right behind Rook 's knee. Rook's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Rook misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rook swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Samaras counters with a stiff right hand. Sloppy strikes from Rook. Those never looked like landing. Rook misses the shot to the body. Rook throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Samaras counters with a stiff right hand. Samaras throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Samaras scores with a nice right hand.
Samaras lands the left hand. Rook is still on wobbly legs! Can Samaras finish him? The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rook misses with a straight left. Rook misses with a hook
and Samaras counters with a right hand that sends Rook tumbling to the canvas! Can Samaras finish him? He dives into Rook's guard looking to do just that! Rook keeping full guard, as Samaras tries to pass. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alkiviadis Samaras dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Samaras tries to clinch up but Rook circles away and keeps his distance. Rook seems to have recovered his senses. Samaras lands a right hook to the body.

A combination from Rook does no damage. Samaras swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. A jab from Rook misses. Samaras swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Rook uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Samaras.
Rook unleashes a big counter combination but Samaras bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rook takes a jab right on the kisser.
Samaras smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Rook is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Rook thows a left - swing and a miss! and Samaras counters with a good, hard body kick but Rook shrugs it off. Samaras connects with a solid leg kick. Rook lands the left hand. Alkiviadis Samaras is winning the standup battle so far. Samaras connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

Rook takes a swing at Samaras's ribcage but misses. Samaras displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rook throws out the jab. A jab from Rook finds it's way through Samaras's defenses. A looping hook to the body misses from Rook. Samaras does a little dance to reset his feet. A little feinted left hand from Samaras on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Rook breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. This has been an exciting period of action! Rook blocks a leg kick. Rook throws a jab when Samaras was well out of range. Rook misses with a shot to the body letting Samaras counter with a right hand. Rook misses with a few strikes there.

and Samaras counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Rook is breathing heavily. Rook gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Rook misses with a right hand and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Samaras lands with a right hand. Rook misses with a left hand and Samaras counters with an inside leg kick. Rook swings away with a body shot that misses
letting Samaras counter with a right hand. Rook throws a sloppy body shot
and Samaras counters with a good low kick that Rook was not able to check. Samaras throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rook. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Samaras, as that shot connected.
Nathan Rook is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Samaras swings for the body but Rook moves out of range.
It seemed like Rook was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Samaras is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rook can do to turn this around? Rook dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Samaras swings for the body but Rook moves out of range.
Rook looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Rook misses with a looping left. Rook comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Rook misses with a wild body shot. Samaras lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Samaras sizes up Rook with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Rook misses with a double jab
and Samaras counters with an inside leg kick. Samaras ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Samaras throws a right and a left that Rook avoids nicely. Rook throws a counter combo. Samaras lands a nice shot to the body.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rook fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Samaras manages to avoid it.
A head kick lands from Samaras that sends Rook to the canvas. Rook tries to scramble back to his feet but Samaras brings him back down into side control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rook keeping his opponent close.
Samaras decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rook to his feet. Rook misses with a jab to the body
and Samaras counters with a right hand that sends Rook tumbling to the canvas! Can Samaras finish him? He dives into Rook's guard looking to do just that!
Rook is working an open guard so Samaras takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Rook swings away with a body shot that misses
and Rook is countered with a crisp right hand from Samaras that sends him to the canvas! Samaras follows him to the mat into side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A lull in the action here as Samaras stalls from top position.
Samaras stands up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alkiviadis Samaras dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
A chopping leg kick lands by Samaras. Rook has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Samaras tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rook was well out of range. Poor timing from Samaras. Rook appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Rook throws a lazy uppercut
and Samaras counters with an inside leg kick. A left and a right from Rook both land. Nice combination. Samaras looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Samaras takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Samaras counters with a lovely straight right hand! Samaras moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rook throws a sloppy body shot
and Samaras counters with a nice body shot. Rook takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Rook swings and misses with a shot to the body and Samaras counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Rook rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Samaras moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Samaras fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Rook misses with a hook. Samaras ducked under it nicely. A counter left hand to the body from Samaras misses its target. Samaras connects with a single shot there. Rook misses with a looping right. Samaras blocks a jab. Rook gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Samaras gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Rook is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
