Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jean Phillipe LaFleur (ranked 421 p4p, 1543 weight class) and Sam Owen (ranked 56 p4p, 196 weight class). LaFleur kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Slaughter in a Grave. The crowd seem to be enjoying Owen's choice of entrance music: Feel Me Flow - Naughty by Nature. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Phillipe LaFleur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Sam Owen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and LaFleur counters with a crisp right hand that drops Owen! LaFleur lets Owen back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
It looks like Sam Owen has been cut.
Owen misses with an uppercut
and LaFleur counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Owen thinking.
Owen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Owen gets off balance looking for a body kick
and LaFleur counters with a lovely shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

LaFleur has his hands on Owen's head, controlling the position.
LaFleur can't keep his opponent in guard - Owen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Owen trying to pass the guard but LaFleur defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Owen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. LaFleur doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Owen.
LaFleur tries to get to full guard but Owen has control of the leg.
Owen wants to take a breather but LaFleur is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Owen is pressing down on LaFleur's thigh, looking to free his foot. LaFleur is holding on for now.
LaFleur desperately trying to maintain half guard.
LaFleur's coaches at FIGHT FOUNDERS (CA) have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Owen wants to lay and pray for a moment but LaFleur keeps working.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Owen working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Owen uses his free foot to push down on LaFleur's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for LaFleur.
Owen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
LaFleur is bucking up trying to escape but Owen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Owen pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
LaFleur tries to lock up and control but Owen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
LaFleur sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
LaFleur is holding on to half guard well.
Owen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
LaFleur is pressing down on Owen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Owen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. LaFleur swivels though and keeps the full guard.
LaFleur is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Owen passes easily into side control. Nice work.

LaFleur is looking to regain half guard here but Owen keeps moving and retains side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jean Phillipe LaFleur will probably get the nod.

Owen pushes LaFleur away with a front kick.
Owen throws out a loose jab but LaFleur uses good head movement to avoid it.
It looked like LaFleur was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Owen.
Owen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
LaFleur takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nice uppercut lands for Owen. That snapped LaFleur's head back.
Sam Owen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Owen shoots in for a takedown but LaFleur shows good takedown defense.
LaFleur is looking to counter punch.
Owen closes the distance looking to clinch
letting LaFleur counter with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Owen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts LaFleur as he jumps to the side.

Owen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in LaFleur's guard.
LaFleur looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
LaFleur tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Owen trying to control but LaFleur is working from the bottom.
Owen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Owen wants to control from the top but LaFleur keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
LaFleur steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Owen.
LaFleur avoids the head kick by Owen.
Owen missing with a left hand there. LaFleur was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Owen throws a body kick that misses.
A little feinted left hand from LaFleur on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Owen misses with a looping left.
A quick step to the side and LaFleur tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Owen throws the kick towards the body but LaFleur avoids it.
LaFleur is looking for a counter combo.
Jean Phillipe LaFleur is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
LaFleur slips under a jab.
LaFleur throwing a counter right hand but Owen manages to avoid it.
Owen tries to bum rush LaFleur with a series of wild strikes but LaFleur uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
LaFleur feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Owen sprawling to the canvas! Owen rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can LaFleur finish him?!
Owen is rocked!

and LaFleur counters with a left to the body.

Owen is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
LaFleur drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Owen's head, knocking him out cold! LaFleur is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jean Phillipe LaFleur!
A very excited looking Jean Phillipe LaFleur made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Sam Owen was interviewed post fight and said 'Whenever I start something I try to finish it.'.
