Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Allejo Madera!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madera tries to clinch but fails miserably
letting Ekberg counter with a right hand.
Madera showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ekberg.

Ekberg gets a double leg takedown into Madera's guard.
Ekberg controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ekberg stopping the sweep attempt from Madera.
Ekberg works over Madera with some ground and pound from guard.
Madera working a defensive guard but Ekberg manages to pass into side control anyway.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A lull in the action here as Ekberg stalls from top position.

We've been hearing that Ekberg has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Madera is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ekberg is controlling him well.

Ekberg is taking a breather. Madera says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Madera is looking for a sweep. Ekberg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Madera has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ekberg is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ekberg is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Ekberg is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Madera doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ekberg.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ekberg in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ekberg decides to stand up.
Ekberg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Madera circles away quickly and effectively.
Ekberg fails with a takedown attempt.
Some wild striking there from Madera.
Ekberg throws a good cross that connects.
A punch combination from Ekberg misses.
Madera tries to clinch up.

Ekberg looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Madera!
Madera is trying to escape the position but Ekberg is controlling the position.
Madera trying his best to control but Ekberg has mounted him.

Ekberg closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ekberg lands in his opponent's guard.
Ekberg lands a couple of digs.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Madera is on top in guard.

Madera wants to control from the top but Ekberg keeps moving.
Madera throws an elbow that misses. Ekberg uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Madera's guard. Nice move by Ekberg!

Ekberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Madera swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ekberg has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Madera kicks Ekberg off and gets to his feet.

Madera slips a jab and a cross from Ekberg.

Ekberg manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Madera on his heels. He'll look to pass Madera's guard now, I'm sure.

Ekberg has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Madera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Madera had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ekberg defends it easily.
Ekberg is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Ekberg seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Madera for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ekberg stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lars Gunnar Ekberg will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Madera drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ekberg gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Madera jumps guard but Ekberg turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Lars Gunnar Ekberg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Allejo Madera.

Madera tries to get to full guard but Ekberg has control of the leg.
Ekberg wants to pass the guard but Madera is defending well.

Madera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ekberg pulls his head out easily.

Madera tries to sprawl but Ekberg drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Madera pushes Ekberg off and gets back to his feet.

Lars Gunnar Ekberg is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Allejo Madera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ekberg shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Madera pinned against the cage. Madera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Madera tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

No joy there for Ekberg, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ekberg shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Madera manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
