Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Colby Canvana (ranked 4333 p4p, 24860 weight class) and Magomed Magomedsharipov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Magomedsharipov has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The key to victory for Colby Canvana has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Magomed Magomedsharipov!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magomedsharipov shoots in for a takedown but Canvana shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
As Magomedsharipov looks to move away, Canvana throws a big counter combo but Magomedsharipov just gets out of the way.
Canvana pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Magomedsharipov slaps away a takedown attempt from Canvana, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Magomedsharipov dives in and grabs Canvana's left leg, looking for a takedown. Canvana pushes down on Magomedsharipov's head and hops out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Canvana feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Canvana throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Magomedsharipov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Canvana has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Magomedsharipov is proving hard to escape from.

Canvana content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Magomedsharipov scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Canvana manages to mount him!
Canvana tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Canvana's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
