Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Kazvitz (ranked 2739 p4p, 3810 weight class) and Alex Newman (ranked 311 p4p, 408 weight class). Newman has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonny Kazvitz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Newman! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newman blocks a jab. Kazvitz doesn't succeed with the takedown and Newman counters with a three punch combo that has Kazvitz backing up. Kazvitz nods at Newman to acknowledge the strikes. Newman throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Kazvitz with a lazy takedown attempt letting Newman counter with a right hand. Newman looks to land a body kick but Kazvitz moved away. Kazvitz fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Kazvitz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Newman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kazvitz tries to avoid it but Newman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kazvitz to the ground. Kazvitz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A counter left hand to the body from Kazvitz misses its target. Kazvitz fails in his attempt to clinch. Kazvitz tries a head kick but it misses.
Kazvitz fails with the takedown. Newman closes the distance and pushes Kazvitz back into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Newman throws a head kick but Kazvitz moves out of range.
Kazvitz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Newman is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kazvitz is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Newman tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kazvitz throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Kazvitz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kazvitz unloads with some shots from mount but Newman bucks and avoids them well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kazvitz is keen to just control but Newman is a slippery customer. Newman looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Newman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kazvitz escapes and gets back to his feet. Newman blocks a head kick by Kazvitz.
Newman tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kazvitz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Newman feints the counter takedown. Newman lands a glancing blow to the side of Kazvitz's head. Newman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kazvitz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Newman somewhat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newman moves into the clinch successfully.
Newman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kazvitz after a bit of a struggle. Newman is defending well against a takedown attempt. Kazvitz tries to circle away but Newman has him pinned against the cage. Kazvitz tries for a takedown but Newman manages to get underhooks.
Kazvitz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Newman fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Newman is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Newman stuffs the takedown. Kazvitz is breathing heavily. Newman scores with a three punch combo!
Newman shoots in for a takedown but Kazvitz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Kazvitz half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Newman clinches. This has been an exciting period of action! Kazvitz is trying to pull guard but Newman turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Kazvitz is trying to stall.
Newman stalls. Kazvitz is defending well against a takedown attempt. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Newman dominated that round. That's time! Kazvitz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Kazvitz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Newman kicks Kazvitz off and gets back to his feet. Newman blocks a head kick by Kazvitz.
Newman shoots in for a double leg but Kazvitz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Newman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kazvitz to score an easy takedown into full guard. Newman manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kazvitz tries to land knees in the clinch but Newman avoids the damage to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Kazvitz just misses with a elbow thrown towards Newman's brow. Kazvitz is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Newman is defending well. Newman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kazvitz has his takedown stuffed and Newman counters with a one-two to the body. Kazvitz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Newman but Newman pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonny Kazvitz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kazvitz gets tackled into the cage by Newman. Newman maintains the clinch. Newman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kazvitz walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Newman checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Newman throws a head kick but Kazvitz moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Newman has closed the distance and engaged Kazvitz in a clinch.

Kazvitz is trying to pull guard but Newman turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Newman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kazvitz avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Kazvitz can't get the takedown.
Newman has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Newman tries to score a body lock takedown but Kazvitz shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kazvitz is looking for a takedown. Newman prevents Kazvitz from breaking the clinch. Kazvitz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Newman pulls him back up using the underhooks. Newman successfully pulls guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Kazvitz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Newman's guard. Newman has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kazvitz off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newman dives in and grabs Kazvitz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kazvitz pushes down on Newman's head and hops out. Kazvitz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Newman trying to keep a closed guard but Kazvitz is proving a slippery customer.
Kazvitz wants to control from the top but Newman keeps moving. Newman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kazvitz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Newman has a closed guard, preventing Kazvitz from standing up. Newman working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Newman looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kazvitz trying to control but Newman is working from the bottom. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kazvitz throwing strikes from guard but Newman blocks nicely.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kazvitz leaves Newman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kazvitz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Newman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round! Kazvitz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Newman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Newman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kazvitz avoids it really well and circles away. Newman clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Newman can't get the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kazvitz tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Newman. Kazvitz is keen to just control but Newman is a slippery customer. Kazvitz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kazvitz wants to control but Newman is keeping him busy. Kazvitz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Newman is staying active underneath Kazvitz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Alex Newman has got the better of the ground game so far. Newman is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. A head kick misses from Kazvitz.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Newman tries a head kick but it misses.
Newman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kazvitz throws a body shot but no joy. Newman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Newman throws a low kick but Kazvitz moves out of range easily. Kazvitz throws a big counter combination but Newman scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Newman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kazvitz avoids it really well and circles away. Jonny Kazvitz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Newman blocks a head kick by Kazvitz.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Newman forces Kazvitz back against the cage and clinches. Kazvitz jumps guard but Newman stands there with Kazvitz around his waist. Kazvitz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Newman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kazvitz circles away. It looked like Kazvitz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Newman keeps the fight on the outside. Kazvitz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Newman closes the distance and clinches. Alex Newman seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Newman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kazvitz walks away with a smile on his face. Newman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Newman circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Newman scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Kazvitz shoots for a double leg takedown but Newman sprawls well. He's pushed Kazvitz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jonny Kazvitz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alex Newman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Kazvitz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that's the end of the fight! Alex Newman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Newman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
