PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Jones (ranked 3524 p4p, 4605 weight class) and Eli Hancock (ranked 300 p4p, 363 weight class). Eli Hancock will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eli Hancock!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hancock throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hancock can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hancock works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Hancock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hancock manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Hancock's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hancock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hancock has Jones in his guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones breaks from Hancock's wrist control and lands an elbow.

BOOM! Jones connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Hancock is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea.
Jones fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Eli Hancock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
