PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Mondale (ranked 3799 p4p, 25382 weight class) and Jaron Fletcher (ranked 406 p4p, 500 weight class). Mondale comes to the cage accompanied by Bad to the Bone. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Mondale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jaron Fletcher!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fletcher defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mondale.
Fletcher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mondale sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fletcher somewhat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fletcher is defended easily by Mondale.
Mondale changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Fletcher tries to clinch up but Mondale circles away and keeps his distance.
Mondale tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fletcher defends well and Mondale ends up having to push Fletcher into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Mondale's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mondale is trying to ground and pound but Fletcher uses the momentary lack of control by Mondale to regain half guard.
Mondale is trying to control the action in half guard but Fletcher is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Mondale is looking for a kimura but Fletcher is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mondale to get the leverage.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mondale in particular looking to stall.
Mondale is keen to just control but Fletcher is a slippery customer.

Jaron Fletcher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mondale manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fletcher manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fletcher avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mondale.

Mondale is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
