Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Reginald Whitaker (ranked 5182 p4p, 2371 weight class) and Romulus Gerber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reginald Whitaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 37 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Romulus Gerber!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker tries for a takedown but Gerber circles away easily
and Gerber counters with a nice body shot.
Whitaker tries to close the distance and clinch but Gerber swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Whitaker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice straight punches there by Gerber. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gerber.
Whitaker swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Whitaker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

As Whitaker backs off Gerber throws a huge counter combo but Whitaker manages to avoid it all.

Whitaker shoots in looking for a takedown but Gerber manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Whitaker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Gerber makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Whitaker closes the distance and clinches up with Gerber, looking for a takedown. Whitaker pushes Gerber against the cage but Gerber circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Romulus Gerber dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Whitaker shoots in looking for a takedown. Gerber tries to sprawl out of it but Whitaker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gerber manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gerber has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gerber fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Whitaker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Gerber counters with a nice uppercut.

and Gerber counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Gerber buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Whitaker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gerber sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Whitaker somewhat.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Whitaker lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gerber has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gerber and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Gerber scores with a shot to the side of Whitaker's head.
Whitaker wants to take the fight to the mat but Gerber manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Gerber lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Despite the aggression on Gerber's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

and Gerber counters with a flying knee that drops Whitaker! Gerber dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Romulus Gerber!
A very excited looking Romulus Gerber made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
