PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rory Curtis (ranked 2697 p4p, 3818 weight class) and Bartlomiej Baran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Curtis comes to the cage accompanied by The Prodigy - Omen. Bartlomiej Baran will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rory Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bartlomiej Baran!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baran gets caught napping as Curtis dives in and scores a takedown. Baran manages to retain guard.
Baran keeping full guard, as Curtis tries to pass.
Curtis wants to control from the top but Baran keeps moving.

Curtis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Curtis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Curtis jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Baran manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Curtis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Baran is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Baran is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Curtis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Baran is just riding it out for now. Curtis eventually gives up the hold.

Curtis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Curtis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Baran is defending well though. Curtis let's go of the attempt for now.

Curtis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Baran can do to turn this around?
Baran is breathing heavily.
Baran has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Curtis is working away from the top position though.

Curtis wants to control the pace but Baran is squirming around nicely.

Curtis is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Baran can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rory Curtis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Curtis is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Baran is surviving well by controlling Curtis's body position as best he can.

Curtis jumps guard and drags Baran to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Curtis wants to sweep here but Baran controlling him for the moment.

Curtis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Baran has his hands clasped together but Curtis extends and breaks Baran's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Curtis.
