Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sonny Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Valverde!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins dives in for a single leg takedown but Valverde sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Valverde tries to counter with a clinch but Hawkins shakes him off and moves away.
Valverde breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Valverde paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Valverde is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hawkins sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Valverde slaps away a takedown attempt from Hawkins, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Valverde displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hawkins.

It looks like Valverde might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hawkins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valverde swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Valverde is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hawkins will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Valverde cracks Hawkins with a big right hand but Hawkins just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Valverde is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Valverde scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hawkins to see if he's OK.

Valverde is trying to get an arm triangle but Hawkins is defending well.
