And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 14 losses; Tommy Reed! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sova clinches. Sova wants a takedown.
Sova gets underhooks to prevent Reed's takedown attempt.
Sova is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Reed can't fight it off and eventually Sova manages to take the fight to the floor. Reed looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Sova (2) vs (0) Reed We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Sova pushes down on Reed's leg and manages to get into half guard. Reed is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Reed actively working from the bottom here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sova wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving. Reed is adopting a defensive guard. Sova stands and throws Reed's legs to the side, diving into side control. Reed holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Sova wants to work for an arm triangle but Reed is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Reed has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Ground Zero Workout Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Sova is trying to control the action in half guard but Reed is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
