Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teddy Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Phoenix!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix fails to land the takedown.
Phoenix will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Phoenix fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Teddy Bear has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Phoenix.
Bear lands a nice looking body kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bear lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Phoenix has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Phoenix and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Phoenix is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Bear can't keep his opponent in guard - Phoenix advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Still in half guard, Phoenix seems content to control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Phoenix is trying to control the action in half guard but Bear is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Phoenix is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bear is just riding it out for now. Phoenix eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Phoenix wants to pass to mount but Bear is defending the position.
Still in half guard, Phoenix seems content to control.

Phoenix missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bear with a lazy takedown attempt

and Phoenix decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bear's guard.
Phoenix trying to control but Bear is working from the bottom.

Despite being in the dominant position, Paul Phoenix just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bear looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Bear counters with a nice double leg into side control. Phoenix won't be happy with that.

Bear closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Phoenix wants to control but Bear postures up.
Phoenix is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Bear stops Phoenix from getting back to his feet.

Phoenix moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Phoenix seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Phoenix trying to keep a closed guard but Bear is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Phoenix has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
