The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Anderson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Borgia sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Borgia stuffs the takedown. Anderson is looking to clinch but Borgia is avoiding it.
Borgia shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Borgia showed some decent athleticism there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Borgia is keen to just control but Anderson is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Borgia controlling from mount. Borgia prevents Anderson from getting the reversal. Borgia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Borgia has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. This is a sustained period of stalling by Borgia. Anderson has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Borgia wants to control the pace but Anderson is squirming around nicely. Borgia controlling the pace for now.

Anderson tries to hold on but Borgia pushes him away. Anderson is trying to reverse the position but instead Borgia has taken his back - oops! He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

We've been hearing good reports from Borgia's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. I really don't envy Anderson right now.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Borgia wants to take Anderson's back but he can't do it this time. Anderson wants to control but Borgia is having none of it. Borgia wants to control the pace but Anderson is squirming around nicely. Borgia controlling from mount.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Anderson tries to lock up and control but Borgia gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Borgia controlling the position easily from mount. And that's the end of the fight! Borgia takes the fight on points by 12 to 2. After winning the bout, Alexander Borgia thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
