Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthias Cortez (ranked 2679 p4p, 5263 weight class) and George Huffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cortez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is God and Country. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matthias Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Huffman!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Huffman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cortez counters with a slapping leg kick.

Huffman clinches with his opponent.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Huffman tries to circle away but Cortez has him pinned against the cage.

Huffman decides to pull guard.
Cortez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cortez wants to control from the top but Huffman keeps moving.

Huffman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Huffman is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Huffman lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Cortez has Huffman pressed against the cage, preventing Huffman from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Cortez pushes Huffman off and scrambles back to his feet.
Huffman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cortez defends well and Huffman ends up having to push Cortez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Huffman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Huffman.

Huffman jumps guard and drags Cortez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Huffman seems keen to control Cortez's posture.

Cortez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Huffman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cortez has managed to get both his arms back between Huffman's legs - danger averted.

Huffman wants to sweep here but Cortez controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cortez is looking to stand up but Huffman won't let him.

Cortez tries to clinch up but Huffman circles away and keeps his distance.
Huffman closes the distance and clinches up with Cortez, looking for a takedown. Huffman pushes Cortez against the cage but Cortez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cortez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Huffman.

Cortez looks to move to half guard but instead Huffman has passed into mount! Damn!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cortez wants to hold on but Huffman pushes him away.
Cortez is desperately trying to improve his position but Huffman has a good base and remains in mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Huffman there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Huffman has hold of Cortez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cortez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Huffman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cortez tries to avoid it but Huffman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cortez to the ground. Cortez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Cortez is fighting to break Huffman's control of his arms but Huffman is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Huffman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cortez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Huffman is fending him off so far but Cortez persists. Nope, Huffman circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Huffman with that takedown attempt.
Huffman shoots in and drives through. Cortez sprawls well.
Huffman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cortez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Huffman, up you get!
Cortez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Huffman was well out of range. Poor timing from Cortez.
Cortez tries to close the distance and clinch but Huffman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Huffman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Huffman closes the distance and pushes Cortez back into the cage.

Huffman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cortez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Huffman has passed into side control.

George Huffman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Huffman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
