PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ozzy Rass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo Souto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ozzy Rass is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ozzy Rass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Renzo Souto!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Rass.
Ozzy Rass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souto is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rass.
Souto keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rass bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Souto's head backwards.
Souto misses with a takedown attempt - Rass sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rass loads up on a big right hand but Souto slips the punch.
Nice sprawl there from Rass as Souto shoots in.
Souto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rass's waist but Rass gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Souto off to one side.
Ozzy Rass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renzo Souto.
Souto misses with a takedown attempt - Rass sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rass stuffs the takedown attempt from Souto. Souto gets slowly back to his feet.

Rass closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Souto keeps control of Rass as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Rass is trying to break the clinch but Souto has him pressed against the cage.
Souto has Rass pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rass manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Rass is breathing heavily.
Souto tries to pull guard but Rass holds him up against the cage and eventually Souto drops back down to his feet.
Rass is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Rass's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A head kick from Rass lands but Souto takes it in his stride.
Rass could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Souto closes the distance and clinches up with Rass, looking for a takedown. Souto pushes Rass against the cage but Rass circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Rass.
Rass swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Souto.
A good leg kick by Rass.
Rass throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rass throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Souto takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Rass throws a sloppy head kick and Souto moves out of range easily.
Rass scores with a kick to the midsection.
Souto takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rass scores with a spinning back kick!

Souto moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Rass lands a with a good body shot.
Rass scores with a hook to the body. Souto takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Horrible takedown by Souto or perhaps it was just good defense by Rass which made him look bad.
Donk. Rass catches Souto right on the button with a cross.
Rass connects with a good right hand that stumbles Souto. Souto circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Rass smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rass lands with a right hand.
Souto shoots in but no luck this time.
Rass is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Souto shoots in and drives through. Rass sprawls well.
Souto stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rass.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rass throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Souto on the side of the head.

Rass drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rass wanted to stand there but Souto had control of the position.

Souto looking for a guillotine here but Rass defends easily.

Souto lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rass!

Rass wants to try and get back to his feet.

Rass is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Rass swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Souto is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rass can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rass bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Souto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rass is looking to stand up but Souto won't let him.
Souto tries to strike from the bottom.
Rass wants to stand but Souto has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Rass decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Souto, up you get!
Rass scores with a body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Souto shoots and misses

and Rass counters by clinching up.
Souto fails to pull guard.
Souto fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Rass breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Souto has his takedown stuffed
and Rass counters with a series of strikes. Souto will be more careful next time no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ozzy Rass dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Souto is chipping away with strikes.
Rass manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Souto throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Souto is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souto landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Souto lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Souto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rass is trying to stand.

Rass wants to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Souto takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Rass lands with an uppercut that bounces Souto off the cage and back into rage.

Souto decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Souto lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Rass looks like he's trying to stand up.

Rass pushes Souto off looking to stand but Souto dives back in and keeps control.
Souto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rass's head.

Souto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rass defends it well.
Rass tries to kick Souto off but Souto keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Rass counters with a three punch combo that has Souto backing up. Souto nods at Rass to acknowledge the strikes.

Souto fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Souto is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rass pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Souto pulls guard successfully.
Souto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Souto striking off his back but it's not causing Rass any problems.

Rass gets to his feet - Souto follows without any prompting.
Rass lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Souto circles away quickly and effectively.

Rass lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rass lands a head shot.

Souto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Rass has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Souto off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Souto crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rass - the referee stops the clock and Souto gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rass. Souto manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

A close second round but Renzo Souto will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Rass shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Souto's guard.
Renzo Souto has got the better of the ground game so far.

Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Rass postures up.

Rass is posturing up here but Souto has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rass tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rass has to tap! Slick submission there by Souto!
