Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Barella (ranked 1489 p4p, 1471 weight class) and Tico Tico (ranked 116 p4p, 114 weight class). Barella comes to the cage accompanied by Prova del 9. Tico has chosen Paco De Lucia - Tico Tico as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sonny Barella!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tico Tico!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barella shoots in for a takedown but Tico shows good takedown defense.
Tico throws a leg kick which misses Barella's front leg but catches the back leg as Barella tries to avoid it.

We've been hearing reports that Barella has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Barella throws a big counter combination but Tico scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Barella takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

No joy there for Tico, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Tico loads up on a big right hand but Barella slips the punch.
Tico fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barella manages to avoid it.

Barella connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Tico connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tico is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Barella throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tico works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Barella stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tico swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Barella throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Barella shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tico napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Tico sneaks out the side door and pushes Barella away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tico throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Barella.
Tico lands a leg kick that knocks Barella off balance momentarily.
Barella takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Barella tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Barella counters with a series of strikes. Tico will be more careful next time no doubt.
Barella shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tico as he jumps to the side.

Tico keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Tico clobbers Barella with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Barella closes the distance and clinches up with Tico, looking for a takedown. Barella pushes Tico against the cage but Tico circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tico Tico seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Barella closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tico did well to prevent Barella getting side control.
Tico has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Barella is on him like a limpet, forcing Tico back against the cage.

Barella has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tico can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Horrible takedown attempt by Barella or perhaps it was just good defense by Tico, which made it look bad.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Tico! But no joy.
Tico Tico is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Barella closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tico quickly recovers to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
Tico Tico comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Tico winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Tico Tico was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
