Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Cavanagh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Rumble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cavanagh kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kalamazoo. Luiz Rumble has the eye of the tiger tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luiz Rumble!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cavanagh is rocked!

Cavanagh clinches with his opponent.
Oh Cavanagh is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rumble is trying to break free.
Cavanagh looking for a takedown.

Cavanagh keeps control of Rumble as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Cavanagh manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Cavanagh is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Rumble wants to get up but he can't break Cavanagh's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rumble would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cavanagh wants to clinch.
Rumble throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cavanagh.
Cavanagh tries to clinch there but Rumble circles away.
Rumble swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Cavanagh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rumble's guard.

Rumble changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cavanagh tries to avoid it but Rumble manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cavanagh to the ground. Cavanagh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Cavanagh works his way into full mount!

Cavanagh stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cavanagh rushes Rumble and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cavanagh wants a takedown.
Rumble wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cavanagh has him pressed against the cage.
Rumble is pressed up against the cage. Cavanagh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rumble down to the mat. Rumble avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cavanagh moves into the clinch.
Cavanagh wants a takedown.

Rumble lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rumble.
Luiz Rumble seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rumble will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rumble is breathing heavily.
Rumble shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cavanagh counters by clinching up.
Cavanagh has Rumble pressed against the cage.
Rumble tries to pull guard but Cavanagh won't allow it.

Cavanagh breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rumble gets caught flat footed, as Cavanagh shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Cavanagh wants to work for an arm triangle but Rumble is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rumble wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A right hook to the body lands for Cavanagh.
Rumble wants to break the clinch but can't.
Cavanagh digs a right hand underneath Rumble's ribcage. Rumble let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Cavanagh pulls guard effortlessly.
Rumble is fighting to break Cavanagh's control of his arms but Cavanagh is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Rumble won't allow Cavanagh to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rumble takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cavanagh controlling Rumble's posture.
Cavanagh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rumble's guard.
Cavanagh stays in close to Rumble's body and controls the position.
Cavanagh lands a couple of digs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Luiz Rumble has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cavanagh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
