Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pharoh Dong (ranked 3810 p4p, 4606 weight class) and Dimitri Makiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Pharoh Dong has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pharoh Dong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dimitri Makiev! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Dong finds it's way through Makiev's defenses. Dong lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dong. Dong lands a lovely overhand right. Dong scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Dimitri Makiev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Makiev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dong sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Makiev somewhat. Dong scores with a jab. Makiev acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Dong works Makiev's body with a nice hook. Makiev with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dong to score with a decent uppercut. Dong scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Makiev doesn't seem bothered though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Makiev walks into a left hand.
 It looks like Dimitri Makiev has been cut. Makiev is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dong. Dong uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Makiev has time to react. Dong jabs Makiev right on the nose. Makiev blinks but takes it well. Makiev shoots for a takedown but Dong saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Dong is looking for a counter combo. Dong fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Dong displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Makiev is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dong. Dong feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Makievs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Dong throws out a powerful jab. Makiev closes the distance and clinches up with Dong, looking for a takedown. Makiev pushes Dong against the cage but Dong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Pharoh Dong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitri Makiev. Makiev looks winded!
Makiev drives through with a takedown into guard. Dong keeping moving, preventing Makiev from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dong has control of Makiev's left arm, preventing Makiev from doing any damage. Dong keeping moving, preventing Makiev from controlling successfully. Dong pulls Makiev in to control the position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Makiev won't allow Dong to sweep him here.
Makiev drops back looking for a leg! Dong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dong manages to kick Makiev off! Makiev jumps back into Dong's guard. Dong can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Makiev controls the pace. Dong is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Makiev thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Makiev drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Makiev jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Makiev controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Dong on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dong tries to get out of the position.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Makiev advances position into side control! Dong wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Makiev has hold of Dong's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Dong tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Makiev cranks the arm and Dong screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Dong, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Dimitri Makiev!
