Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alan West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Krzysztof Zakrzewski!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Zakrzewski did well to prevent West getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zakrzewski wants to control but West is keeping busy.
Zakrzewski tries to get to full guard but West has control of the leg.
West takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Zakrzewski is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but West pulls his head out easily.
Zakrzewski tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
West really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
West has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
West knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zakrzewski on the ground.
Zakrzewski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of West's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take West's back!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zakrzewski throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Zakrzewski tries to keep control of the position but West is staying busy.
West trying to control but not successfully.
Zakrzewski is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. West has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Zakrzewski has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! West taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Zakrzewski doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Krzysztof Zakrzewski!
