And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 0 losses; Saul Hunter! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Hunter fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hunter shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Bonney (0) vs (2) Hunter Hunter works his foot free and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Bonney (0) vs (5) Hunter Bonney has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Score +3 for taking back: Bonney (0) vs (8) Hunter We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bonney just trying to survive but Hunter is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Hunter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Let's hope that Hunter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. More stalling from Hunter. Bonney tries to break free.
Hunter has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Bonney's body.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunter is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Bonney is in bad spot here.
Hunter is riding his opponent, not letting Bonney buck him off.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Hunter has the hooks in. Bonney is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Hunter controls the position. Well, with Hunter on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Bonney is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Bonney tries to roll but Hunter sticks to his back.
What can Bonney do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
You can see the frustration on Bonney's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Hunter controls the action. Bonney just trying to survive but Hunter is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Bonney is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Bonney rolls, trying to escape but Hunter keeps control of the position.
Good control from Hunter. Well,Bonney is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?

And that's the end of the fight! Hunter wins on points by 8 to 0. During a confident post fight interview, Saul Hunter thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. |
