Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Malo Tavara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jermaine Pearson! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tavara keeps the fight on the outside. Tavara throws a jab but it's blocked by Pearson. Pearson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Tavara sizes up Pearson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Pearson looks to clinch and Tavara counters with a stiff right hand. We've been told by Tavara's head coaches at Bushido Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Tavara scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Pearson is rocked! Pearson leaves his chin hanging out and Tavara seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Pearson crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Malo Tavara! An out of breath Malo Tavara thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
