Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Newman (ranked 3226 p4p, 3506 weight class) and Mukhtar Mihailovic (ranked 374 p4p, 401 weight class). Newman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Enter Sandman. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Newman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mukhtar Mihailovic!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman fails with the takedown
and Mihailovic counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Newman!
Newman is trying to get back to half guard.
Mihailovic swings around for an armbar but Newman sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mihailovic's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Alex Newman will probably get the nod.

and Mihailovic counters with a shoot takedown. Newman fights it but they end up in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mihailovic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Newman is trying to control Mihailovic's posture but Mihailovic avoids it.
Mihailovic is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Newman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mihailovic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Newman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mukhtar Mihailovic has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mihailovic is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Newman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mihailovic.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mihailovic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Newman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mihailovic is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Newman still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Newman has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Newman decides to stand back up. Newman steps back and let's Mihailovic get back to his feet.

Mihailovic stuffs the takedown.
Newman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mihailovic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Newman pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Mihailovic back to the cage. Newman follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Mihailovic avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Mihailovic counters with a nice double leg into side control. Newman won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mihailovic is working to tighten his grip on Newman's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Newman has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Mihailovic is really squeezing tight and eventually Newman passes out! Mihailovic breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Mukhtar Mihailovic got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
