Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Nakamura (ranked 4099 p4p, 3811 weight class) and Jay Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenji Nakamura has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Nakamura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Dee! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dee misses with a head kick.
Dee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Nakamura is refusing to be controlled, as Dee sits in half guard. Dee is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nakamura is just riding it out for now. Dee eventually gives up the hold. Dee decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nakamura shoots for a double leg takedown but Dee sprawls well. He's pushed Nakamura's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. And Dee tries to counter it with a takedown but Nakamura pushes his down on his head and steps out. Dee throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nakamura tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dee is in Nakamura's guard. Dee stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's one minute gone in the round. Nakamura dives in for a single leg takedown but Dee sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Nakamura has Dee pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dee manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenji Nakamura. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nakamura is breathing heavily. Dee goes for a takedown attempt but Nakamura pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nakamura was covering up waiting for the punch and Dee finishes the takedown easily into guard. Dee drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nakamura dives on top into guard.
Dee pushes Nakamura off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Nakamura gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dee to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dee wants to control from the top but Nakamura keeps moving. Dee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Dee is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Dee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakamura preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nakamura has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dee has managed to get both his arms back between Nakamura's legs - danger averted. Dee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Dee is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Dee looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Nakamura knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dee on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Dee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dee is pushing down on Nakamura's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nakamura is fighting to maintain full guard but Dee has managed to sneak the leg through. Dee is looking for a kimura here.
Nakamura is trying to stand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Dee dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Nakamura gets caught napping as Dee dives in and scores a takedown. Nakamura manages to retain guard. Dee pushes down on Nakamura's leg and manages to get into half guard. Dee is working for a kimura but Nakamura is defending it quite comfortably.
Dee in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Nakamura tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Dee!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jay Dee!
