And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 10 losses; Rimtas Kentas! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kentas looking to score a takedown here. Green is defending well but Kentas drives through and ends up in Green's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kentas stands and throws Green's legs to the side, diving into side control. Green doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Green manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kentas trying to keep a closed guard but Green is proving a slippery customer.

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Green trying to control but Kentas is working from the bottom. Kentas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Green can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Green is pushing down on Kentas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kentas is fighting to maintain full guard but Green has managed to sneak the leg through. Green trying to control from half guard but Kentas is working away. Kentas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Green pulls his head out easily.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Green trying to pass the guard but Kentas defending well. Kentas wants to get back to full guard. Green content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kentas is looking for a sweep. Green is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kentas desperately trying to maintain half guard. Kentas is staying active underneath Green, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Well, if Green is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Kentas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Green's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Green's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Green (2) vs (9) Kentas Kentas controlling well, preventing Green from escaping the position.
Will Kentas go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Kentas is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Green is defending well though. Kentas let's go of the attempt for now. Kentas working for the choke. Kentas is controlling the position but Green somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Green controlling the position for now. Green wants to control but Kentas passes into side.
Score +3 for passing guard: Green (2) vs (12) Kentas Green stuck in half guard on the bottom here. Kentas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kentas is looking to take a break and control but Green is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kentas might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Green haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Green is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Green trying to hold on to Kentas's head to control him but Kentas postures up.

Green stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kentas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. And that's the end of the fight! Kentas wins on points by 15 to 7. A relieved looking Rimtas Kentas thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
