The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Ramirez darts in looking for a takedown but Perkins gets double underhooks and turns Ramirez into the cage. Ramirez gets the takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Perkins (0) vs (4) Ramirez Perkins is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perkins tries to buck Ramirez off but Ramirez is having none of it. Ramirez tries to advance to mount but can't. Ramirez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Perkins keeps working. Perkins keeping his opponent close. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Perkins is working hard here to advance position. Perkins is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Ramirez controlling the position easily from mount. Ramirez wants to control the pace but Perkins is squirming around nicely.

Perkins regains half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are battling for position here. Perkins manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Ramirez trying to control but Perkins is working from the bottom.

Ramirez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ramirez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Perkins lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. That's five minutes gone in the round. Ramirez has his hands on Perkins's head, controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ramirez controls Perkins momentarily but Perkins frees himself. Our spies down at at KFA inform us that Ramirez has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Perkins is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ramirez keeping moving, preventing Perkins from controlling successfully.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Ramirez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Perkins sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ramirez's guard. Perkins performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Ramirez is trying to control but can't.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Perkins looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Perkins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Perkins trying to control from half guard but Ramirez is working away. Perkins takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Perkins is keen to just control but Ramirez is a slippery customer. Perkins keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Ramirez is looking for a sweep. Perkins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Score +3 for passing guard: Perkins (5) vs (6) Ramirez Ramirez tries to reverse the position but Perkins maintains control. Perkins jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ramirez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ramirez and Perkins has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Perkins in side control, just content to control the action for now. Perkins trying to control the action but Ramirez is working from the bottom. That's eleven minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Perkins's face as Ramirez controls the position. Perkins tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramirez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Perkins is trying to work for a sweep but Ramirez has mounted him! That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Perkins is looking to get to half guard. Ramirez controlling the pace for now. Ramirez takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Ramirez content to control rather than advance. Perkins is trying to get back to full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ramirez is looking to advance position but Perkins won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! Ramirez wins on points by 16 to 5. Jackson Ramirez is the new middleweight champion! Jackson Ramirez very nearly forgot to thank Threads of Fate amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name.
