This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 29 wins and 14 losses; Walon Green! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 106 wins and 73 losses; Bogdan Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Green shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kersikov pinned against the cage. Kersikov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Green shoots in for a takedown but Kersikov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Green closes the distance and clinches up with Kersikov, looking for a takedown. Green pushes Kersikov against the cage but Kersikov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walon Green. That's going to take a lot out of him. Green fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Green or perhaps it was just good defense by Kersikov, which made it look bad. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Green shoots for a double leg takedown but Kersikov sprawls well. He's pushed Green's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kersikov leaves Green with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kersikov gets the takedown into side control. My spies in KFA inform me that Kersikov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kersikov controlling his opponent. Green is desperately trying to improve his position but Kersikov has a good base and remains in mount.

Let's hope that Kersikov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. It looks like Kersikov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
