This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 91 wins and 79 losses; Long Wang! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wang lands in his opponent's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Abdul Karim (0) vs (2) Wang Wang's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wang's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Wang wants to pass the guard but Abdul Karim is keeping the position.

Wang takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Wang can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Abdul Karim is looking to escape.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Abdul Karim sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Wang tries to pass to full mount but Abdul Karim defends it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wang is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wang tries to pass the half guard into mount. Abdul Karim knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Wang wins on points by 5 to 0. Long Wang is the new light heavyweight champion! Long Wang decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well. |
