Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Tijhoff shoots in for a takedown but Quark shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Quark tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Tijhoff misses with a takedown attempt and Quark moves into the clinch. Quark has clasped his hands together around Tijhoff's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. It looks like Quark might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quark working away. Quark in side control, just content to control the action for now. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quark takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Tijhoff definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Tijhoff wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quark sitting and controlling from the half guard. Quark's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Quark is thwarting Tijhoff's attempts to control the position.

Tijhoff looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Quark is taking a breather. Tijhoff says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Quark is continuing to stall.

My spies in The House Of Pain inform me that Quark has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
