And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 23 wins and 14 losses; Tubbs Singleton! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Blue looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Singleton drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Blue defends it well. Singleton gets a takedown into half guard. Singleton content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Blue won't allow Singleton to pass to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Singleton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Singleton is looking to advance position but Blue won't allow it.

Blue looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Singleton has control of Blue's left arm, preventing Blue from doing any damage. Blue will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Singleton is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Blue will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Singleton.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Blue tries to buck Singleton off but Singleton is having none of it. Singleton is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Blue's shoulder. That is not cool. Blue is trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Singleton working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Blue is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
And that's the end of the fight! Singleton wins on points by 7 to 2. After winning the bout, Tubbs Singleton thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
