Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brady Baird! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy Lee! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee tries a head kick but it misses.
Baird shoots in and drives through. Lee sprawls well. Baird will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Lee shoots in for a takedown but Baird shows good takedown defense. Baird shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brady Baird. That's going to take a lot out of him. Baird stuffs the takedown. Baird throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lee was covering up waiting for the punch and Baird finishes the takedown easily into guard. Baird trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Baird might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Baird trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Lee keeping full guard, as Baird tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baird trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Baird gets to his feet - Lee follows without any prompting. Baird fails with the takedown. Lee steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Baird. Lee avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lee fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Baird takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Baird but Baird pushes him off and we're back to square one. Lee stuffs the takedown attempt from Baird. Baird gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baird fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away. Baird dives in and grabs Lee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes down on Baird's head and hops out. Lee lands a high kick!
Nice takedown defense from Lee. No joy for Baird on that attempt. Nice body kick there by Lee. Baird is breathing heavily. Lee with a poor takedown and Baird counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lee is looking for a triangle here but Baird uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Baird is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Baird tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Baird has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Baird stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Baird looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Lee is looking to escape. Baird trying to control the pace. Lee wants to improve his position but Baird is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brady Baird dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Brady Baird seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lee with a lazy takedown attempt and Baird counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Baird. Baird wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baird is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Baird passes Lee's left leg - he's now in half guard. Baird is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lee! Lee is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baird is in the full mount, landing strikes. Baird working for a guillotine from mount but Lee is in no mood to give up. Baird raining down shots from the mount! Baird has control of Lee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lee regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Baird is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lee can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baird avoids the attempt from Lee to control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth. Baird trying to control but Lee is having none of it. Baird is landing with some decent strikes but Lee is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Brady Baird overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baird gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Baird shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely. Lee lands a head kick. Baird smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Baird shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Baird was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Baird is going olschool here, as he tries to force Lee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lee shrugs it off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baird dominating with strikes here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baird has control of Lee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lee regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee is not content to let Baird control the position. Baird tries to pass to full mount but Lee defends it. Baird is keen to just control but Lee is a slippery customer.

Lee slaps away a takedown attempt from Baird, before circling back to the center of the mat. Brady Baird is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Baird keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Baird will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Brady Baird is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Baird holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Lee is trying to break free. Lee is trying to break the clinch but Baird is controlling him. Baird drags the fight down to the ground.
Baird is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lee wants to pass the guard but Baird is keeping the position. Baird trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Tommy Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Baird works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Brady Baird showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Baird, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
