Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phil St. Georges (ranked 917 p4p, 333 weight class) and Kaven May Jr (ranked 88 p4p, 33 weight class). May Jr has chosen HonestKey- Self Discovery as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil St. Georges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaven May Jr! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! May Jr tries to clinch but St. Georges is having none of it. St. Georges closes the distance and clinches up with May Jr, looking for a takedown. St. Georges pushes May Jr against the cage but May Jr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. St. Georges backing away here, and May Jr unleashes a leg kick that just misses. St. Georges shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has May Jr pinned against the cage. May Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. May Jr swings for the body but St. Georges moves out of range.
May Jr thows a leg kick but St. Georges checks it and St. Georges counters with a takedown into side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. May Jr tries to get back to half guard but can't. May Jr struggling a bit here. St. Georges tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. St. Georges controlling the position from side mount. May Jr manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. May Jr trying to control here.
May Jr is refusing to be controlled, as St. Georges sits in half guard. St. Georges is working for a kimura but May Jr is defending it quite comfortably.
St. Georges seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but May Jr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. May Jr trying to control from the bottom.
May Jr felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. St. Georges is trying to control the action in half guard but May Jr is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. St. Georges wants to free his trapped foot but May Jr is holding on for dear life with his legs. May Jr is not content to let St. Georges control the position. St. Georges passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for May Jr! May Jr tries to hold on but St. Georges pushes him away. St. Georges wants to control the pace but May Jr is squirming around nicely.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. May Jr wants to hold on but St. Georges pushes him away. St. Georges working for a guillotine from mount but May Jr is in no mood to give up. St. Georges trying to control but May Jr is having none of it. St. Georges avoids the attempt from May Jr to control. St. Georges wants to control the pace but May Jr is squirming around nicely.

May Jr squirms to his side and now St. Georges has his back! May Jr is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get St. Georges off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. St. Georges is not going to allow May Jr to sit and survive in this position. St. Georges looking for the choke but no joy. May Jr is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if St. Georges gets his way!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Phil St. Georges! A relieved looking Phil St. Georges thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Kaven May Jr was interviewed post fight and said 'I just wanna give a special shout out to all of my coaches and training partners! Thank you for everything you do!'.
