This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gotch shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alopodis as he avoids it easily. Alopodis shoots for a double leg takedown but Gotch sprawls well. He's pushed Alopodis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gotch drives through with a takedown into Alopodis's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Gotch slips nicely into half guard. Gotch has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Alopodis is trying to get back to full guard.
