This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 54 wins and 56 losses; Ceph Alopodis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 25 losses; Cesare Borgia! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Alopodis shoots in and bounces Borgia off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Alopodis (2) vs (0) Borgia Borgia looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Alopodis controlling from the top position. Alopodis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Borgia seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Borgia is trying to keep Alopodis in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Borgia is controlling Alopodis's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Borgia wants to hit a sweep here but Alopodis passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Borgia there! Score +3 for passing guard: Alopodis (5) vs (0) Borgia Borgia tries to control Alopodis's body but Alopodis pushes him off. Borgia squirms to his side and now Alopodis has his back! Score +3 for taking back: Alopodis (8) vs (0) Borgia Alopodis keeps control of the position as Borgia tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Borgia trying to control the action but Alopodis just sinks the hooks in.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alopodis is hanging on to Borgia's back as he tries to escape.
Alopodis controlling from the back. You can see the frustration on Borgia's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Alopodis is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Borgia tries to escape but Alopodis has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Alopodis biding his time, controlling Borgia. This is a sustained period of stalling by Alopodis.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Alopodis doesn't have the hooks in and Borgia manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Alopodis (8) vs (2) Borgia Borgia wants to pass the guard but Alopodis is keeping the position. Borgia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Borgia trying to control the position from guard on top but Alopodis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Borgia's corner is telling him to maintain position. Borgia pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alopodis is keeping the position for now. Borgia looking to improve position, pressing down on Alopodis's thigh with his hand. Alopodis seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Borgia paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Borgia's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Alopodis picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
