Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James King (ranked 1572 p4p, 969 weight class) and Tahboule Alawi (ranked 138 p4p, 92 weight class). Alawi has chosen The Ruler of Everything as his entrance music. James King has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 40 - 27 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, James King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tahboule Alawi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Alawi trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Alawi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Alawi shoots in looking for a takedown. King tries to sprawl out of it but Alawi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. King manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alawi circles away quickly and effectively.
James King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King throws a low kick but Alawi moves out of range easily.
James King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King throws a head kick that misses.
Alawi wants to counter the offense by King and move into the clinch position.

Alawi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches King napping and manages to drive through into side control!
King tries to bench press Alawi off him but Alawi keeps the position.

King is working hard here to advance position.
King pushes Alawi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Alawi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

King gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Alawi wants to control the pace but King is squirming around nicely.
King stops Alawi from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
King is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Alawi is looking to work his way around to King's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

That was a close round but I would say that James King will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

King throws a jab but it's blocked by Alawi.

And Alawi tries to counter it with a takedown but King pushes his down on his head and steps out.
King scores with a sloppy right hand. Alawi should have avoided that one.
King throws a hook to the side of Alawi's head but Alawi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
King pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alawi appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Alawi is pressing down on King's thigh, looking to free his foot. King is holding on for now.

Tahboule Alawi has got the better of the ground game so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Alawi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Alawi stops King from getting back to his feet.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
King throws the left hand but Alawi avoids the punch easily.
Alawi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but King defends it well.
King throws a head kick but Alawi moves out of range.
Alawi steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from King.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alawi.
Alawi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily.
James King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tahboule Alawi.

and Alawi counters with a nice double leg into side control. King won't be happy with that.
Alawi wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

You can see the frustration on King's face as Alawi controls the position.
Alawi tries to move to mount but King blocks the move with his legs.
The referee asks Alawi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Alawi prefers to stall for the moment though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
King is looking to regain half guard here but Alawi keeps moving and retains side control.
King stops Alawi from passing to mount.
King wants to get back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alawi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but King is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tahboule Alawi will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Alawi walks into a jab.
King is looking to chop away at Alawi's legs.
Alawi tries to score a power double leg takedown but King sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alawi somewhat.
King swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
King lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alawi shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alawi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
King feinted there with a counter leg kick.

King moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

and Alawi counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Alawi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Alawi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tahboule Alawi.

Alawi with the counter takedown but King avoids it easily.

King looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

King stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and King wants it to stay on the feet.
James King is winning the standup battle so far.
King lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
