Garak takes the fight into the clinch. Da Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Garak pulls his leg out and moves away.

Da Silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Garak napping and manages to drive through into side control! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Da Silva takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. We've been hearing good reports from Garak's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. It looks like Da Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Da Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Garak does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
